We recommend parents and visitors park on the side streets both east and west of Tamiami Trail and walk your child to school. - Thank you!

Welcome back! Hopefully everyone is feeling rejuvenated after a wonderful Winter Break. The PTO has hit the ground running in 2017. In just one month, the PTO will host Southside's 1st Annual COLOR RUN JOG-A-Thon. This is Southside PTO's largest fundraising event of the year and we have a fundraising goal of $50,000! The money raised will go towards replacing our playground's 15 year old astroturf.
New astroturf will cost approximately $70,000 and our goal is to have it installed Summer 2017. You read that right....Summer 2017!! Because of last year's successful Jog-A-Thon, the PTO has set aside funds to pay for half of the new astroturf. So this year's Jog-A-Thon is crucial to replacing the playground's astroturf. We're almost there!
Additional info about the COLOR RUN is available by clicking one of the tabs at the top of this page, or by contacting one of the event's co-chairs Emily Stroud (email@example.com) or Shea Dotson (firstname.lastname@example.org). We're so excited and cannot wait for February 10th!
January 13th - end of 2nd grading period
January 16th - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, no school
January 17th - Professional Day, no school
February 10th - COLOR RUN Jog-A-Thon

Thank you to all who attended and volunteered! It is because of all of you that Southside is able to host such incredible events.
Thank you also to the dedicated volunteers who are helping with our salad bar. As you may know, the salad bar is now on Tuesdays & Thursdays for all grades. BUT - if we don't have volunteers for those days, we will no longer have our salad bar. Please consider volunteering by clicking "salad bar sign-up" on the right side of this page, or by emailing: email@example.com.
Have you ever wrapped gifts at Holiday House? It is super fun and the students love the opportunity to come to the stage and select a gift for a loved one. Click the link to the right labeled "Holiday House Sign-up" to choose a shift or two that works for you.

It's official....Southside families LOVE cookie dough. Thank you to everyone for your generous orders! We can't wait to deliver the dough!
Southside's wonderful salad bar is now being offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays. The feedback has overwhelmingly been "love it!" However, in order to keep the salad bar permanently, we need volunteers to serve the salads from 11-1. There's no prep or clean up involved for volunteers. Just remember closed-toe shoes, hair pulled back (if needed), and get ready to smile for the entire day. The kids are awesome. Sign-up by clicking on "Salad Bar Sign-up" (to the right) or "volunteer" (at the top of this page).
Don't forget that tickets are currently on sale for the first ever "Farm to Fork" dinner. The dinner is on November 15th, from 6-8, at The Francis. Not only can you buy tickets here on this site, but the Green Team is selling tickets each morning in the hall outside the main office. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased tickets! We're super excited to get out there and experience what our school has been growing.
Did you know that the Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association collects gently used formal gowns all year long? They are collected for "Cinderella's Closet; high school students can go and choose a formal gown for Prom...for FREE. Help make a high school student's prom a night to remember. You can send your gowns and dresses to Southside with your child, or drop them off in the school office. Thank you!!
And finally, the PTO is hosting a fun night out this Thursday at Libby's starting at 5:30 until 7. Enjoy light bites and happy hour prices. No PTO business...just a fun way to kickoff the holidays!
